Monitor Usage

To stay proactive and avoid waiting for customers to inform you when an item needs restocking, you can use the Monitor Usage feature of our sensors. Simply place the sensors next to or directly on the item you want to monitor.

When adding a Monitor Usage sensor to a room in the Hygiene IQ app, you will set a threshold to define the number of times the item can be used before triggering a notification. Once this threshold is reached, a notification will be sent through the app. The notification details, including the item name, room name and the date and time, will be displayed on the Tasks page.

Each time the sensor detects usage, it records the action and updates the count. The sensor will flash green twice to confirm that the entry was recorded. Once the threshold is met, a notification is sent. This process repeats continuously, ensuring you’re alerted whenever an item needs restocking.

How to set up a Monitor Usage sensor

To activate a sensor as a Monitor Usage sensor, follow these steps:

1. Unbox the sensor, remove the back cover, and pull out the battery tab. Insert the battery and replace the back cover. Wait for the blue LED light on the top cover to start flashing rapidly.
2. In the Hygiene IQ app, scan for the sensor by tapping ACTIVATE SENSOR during location or room creation.

• If adding the sensor later, tap Add Device in the room page and select Add Sensor.


3. The app will scan for nearby sensors—select the detected sensor to activate it.

4. After the sensor is activated, the app will transition to the Sensor Settings page. Tap the dropdown in the under Select sensor type field and choose Monitor Usage.

5. Assign the sensor to the item you want to monitor. Type the name of the item in the What are you monitoring? field. Or select it from the the list of default assignments available in the dropdpwn menu.

6. Set the number of times the item should be used before receiving a notification to restock it. Enter this value in the How many times before we notify you? field (default is 20).

7. Define how the sensor should detect item usage:
• Distance: Select this option if you want the sensor to detect hand movement near the item.

• Vibration: Select this option if you want the sensor to detect vibrations caused by the item being used.

8. Peel off the adhesive tape cover on the back of the sensor and attach it securely to the item it was assigned to.
9. Add a photo of the sensor in the app by selecting the Add Photo button (optional). Choose one of the following options:

• Take New Photo – Select this option to take a picture of the sensor with your mobile device.
• Select from Library – Select this option to choose a picture of the sensor already saved on your device.


10. Tap Next to complete the sensor setup in the Hygiene IQ app.
